I just wanted to mention that a another very widely read US photo magazine has given the K10D a really good review. It may be worth buying the mag for the other stuff (it's a pretty decent mag for enthusiasts). It's not worth buying the mag for this review, at least not if you already own a K10D. His concluding paragraph begins, "The Pentax K10D has the look and feel as well as performance of a much more expensive camera." Well, yeah. But it's a fair review and overall, it's quite enthusiastic about the camera. He doesn't like the way the SD card door latches. He has a few complaints, all of them petty. He also mentions the 1.10 firmware update.

He notes for example that Lightroom doesn't yet support the K10D's PEF format news to me, as I've been using Lightroom since I got my K10D at the start of the year, and I have never had a problem. • Three interchangeable lenses designed for exclusive use with PENTAX digital SLR cameras.
  • Shutterbug must have gotten it wrong, then. Plus Pentax has made lenses that do not work with older cameras, but older lenses will work with any Pentax camera. There will be three types of new lenses and only the ultrasonic lenses (DA*) will work only with the K10D due to the contacts in camera for these lenses and the contacts on the lenses them selves which will drive the ultrasonic motors for the lenses AF system. The older cameras use "direct drive" focusing where the motor is in the camera body and a small rod engages with the lens and physically turns the focusing mechanism.Did You read the whole post? these contacts are not there on cameras prior to the K10D. Well if the statment is true they use motors in the lens which are driven by contacts on the body. To bring out new lenses that wont function on older cameras has not been Pentax's way (well at least not in the past). it has been reported that a Pentax person has said that they will have both the USM and the inbody focusing systems in current AF cameras.
